My Mom's Day WeekendI had the.best.weekend.ever!Saturday was a beautiful day and it started out by taking Lil Taz to her red belt test. The kids' expertise fascinates me. They went through their forms, kicks, punches, falls then they sparred. Since this was a test they had to spar against their instructors. It was fun watching them hold their own against adults...it was a good feeling. She receives her new belt tonight after class. After testing Lil Taz and I went to the nail place and got Mama Taz a gift certificate for a pedicure. She has never had a real pedicure so it will be a nice treat for her. She was thrilled with her gift. Then we bought Mr. Taz's mom a wreath to put on her grave and we went to the Chinese restaurant for Mr. Taz a quart of hot and sour soup. Once we got home, the three of us went to the cemetary to put the wreath out. It's a rural cemetary where families still dig their own graves and it is kept up very nice...altho some people let their dogs run wild and there was evidence of that in the parking area. :o\ Lo and behold who stepped in a pile but yours truly :o\ So that pair of flip flops are sitting on the porch until I can stomach cleaning them off.
We gathered up Mama Taz and all headed out to look at a huge house that Mr. Taz and a friend of his is building. It's hu-freakin'-mongous!!! The roof is so high that I'm glad I didn't see it BEFORE Mr. Taz was on it or I would have freaked out and pitched a Taz sized fit about him even getting on the roof. The hi-lite of the trip was stopping by Bruster's for a special treat. We had never had Bruster's Icecream and it was totally kick ass! I had turtle which was chocolate icecream with pecans and caramel. Lil Taz had double chocolate, Mr. Taz had a strawberry shake and Mama Taz had strawberry icecream. The line was very long but it was well worth the wait. As soon as the girl working the counter opened the window the smell of fresh waffle cones hit me in the face...yummy!
Saturday night was a quiet night at home, Lil Taz and Mr. Taz worked on the jigsaw puzzle from hell while I watched some of the Darlington race. I didn't watch for too long...Harvick ended up with a chunk of the Lady in Black in his radiator which pretty much shot his night. Ya see...I tend to get way pissy when something happens to Harvick and end up getting too aggravated to enjoy the race so I headed out into the sunroom to try my hand at jigsawing.Sunday morning I was greeted by "Good morning, Mama and Happy Mother's Day...we're going to BassPro, get UP!" After a quick shower and getting dressed we were out the door leaving Puppy Taz to pout behind us. Since it was Mom's Day we all (Mama Taz included) ate breakfast then headed to BassPro. Lil Taz had spotted something she wanted to get me while we were there with my brother on Easter. After shopping for a little while, I was told "Mama, get lost for a few" so I 'got lost' at Starbucks :o) Out of the kindness of my heart I even bought Lil Taz a decaf vanilla latte'. I registered to win a bassboat but evidently I missed the call telling me that I had won. I need to check the caller id again.Once we got home, I was presented with my gift...a birdfeeder :o) I am SO thrilled!! I love it!! Lil Taz actually remembered that I had said something about how cute it was and that I had mentioned it was something I would like to have. That means so much to me that she had thought about that. Sundays are always busy at our house so I used the rest of the day to get all my regular Sunday stuff done. For supper last night I fixed hot wings (very mild for them...cajun for me). It was awesome. After everything was finished up we all worked on the jigsaw puzzle until bedtime. Puzzles are a great way to spend family time.I hope every mom out there had as wonderful a day as I did.Today it's Monday and back to reality, which sucks...I miss my family very much today and can't wait to get back home to them tonight.
